A downloadable game

Pitch:

Stellar Legacy is a 2.5D puzzle exploration game where you play as an archaeology student exploring an alien world. Descend deeper into the planet, see your surroundings develop as the lost civilization evolved, and uncover the mystery of their disappearance.

Plot:

Play as Vicki Brodrick, a student of a prestigious university who's been sent to a small remote planet to investigate some ruins as part of her final assessment.

Accompanied by her little robot companion, she sets off to the planet.

While exploring the ruins she discovers a hatch.

After opening the hatch, she discovers an entire ruined city hidden underneath the planet's surface. Not only that, but these ruins are of a civilization much more advanced than the ones on the surface.

What could have happened to the people of this planet? It's up to you to find out.

Scope:

The game would consist of 4 levels, each with a different aesthetic inspired by a different time period.

The time periods for each level in order are (Roman Empire, Medieval, Industrial Revolution, and Modern)

For the purposes of the project, we only intend to focus on The First 2 Layers.

The other layers are intended as Stretch goals.

Gameplay:

The gameplay focuses on solving simple puzzles and exploring the environment.

Players will have to complete puzzles to progress to the next layer of the planet.

The puzzles found will be based on the time period that the layer is set in.

Puzzles will be based around interacting with the environment.

While exploring, players may discover different types of Artifacts.

If interacted with, Vicki will scan the Artifact and the player will be able to interact with a 3D hologram of the artifact which they can use to learn more about it through her father's database via her robot companion.

Visuals:

Stellar Legacy is a 2.5D made up of 3 different layers to add depth.

The player will be able to move between these layers to navigate around obstacles and explore the levels.

As you traverse the planet, the world rotates as you move to create a unique aesthetic.

Audio:

We intend to do something unique with how the audio is triggered in our game.

We intend to link the music to the puzzles.

Each puzzle completed within the level will activate 1 layer of the music (e.g. drums, bass, main melody, etc.)

These layers will sound more environmental (e.g. drums will be played via gears and machines)

Once the player has completed all the puzzles, all the layers come together to make the full music track for that level.

While we currently don't have any audio specialists, we have made a simple demo track. (See bottom of page)
